Medico Legal Experience

Professor Graeme Yorston is a Consultant Forensic Neuropsychiatrist who has been an Expert Witness since 2006. He has attained the Bond Solon Expert Witness certificate and is instructed on complex neuropsychiatric, general psychiatric and criminal cases by Defendants and Claimants.  

Complex neuropsychiatric cases:

  • Including traumatic brain injury, military PTSD and neuro-degenerative disorders addressing condition and prognosis, causation, capacity and clinical negligence. 

General psychiatry:

  • Including but not restricted topersonalinjury, chronic pain, employment, depression, anxiety and phobias. 

Criminal cases:

  • Including fitness to plead and stand trial, ability to form intent, automatism and diminished responsibility. Graeme has given evidence in the criminal courts on many occasions. 

Graeme’s appointment availability is 3-5 weeks and has a report turnaround time of 4-6 weeks. 

Clinical Experience

Graeme has been a Consultant Forensic Neuropsychiatrist and Associate Medical Director with St Matthew’s Healthcare in Northampton since 2012. 

Since 1999, Graeme has been involved in giving interviews to esteemed establishments such as The Times, Good Morning Britain and Scottish TV News, in addition to radio stations across the UK. Graeme has been interviewed by BBC West Country News following a murder trial and by Yomiuri Shimbun a Japanese newspaper regarding elderly homicides. Professor Yorston has also established an extensive array of academic publications (see publications button below)
