Dr James Jarvie is an experienced General Practitioner and Expert Witness. He is instructed by both claimants and defendants in clinical negligence cases, and can report on issues of causation, liability, and breach of duty.
Dr Jarvie has completed Inspire Medilaw training, accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons, to ensure a high standard of reporting and courtroom skills. This demonstrates his commitment to his medicolegal work and his understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules Part 35. Since completing his training, Dr Jarvie has completed several advisory and CPR-compliant reports. These have been for both defence and prosecution in an approximately equal split.
Dr Jarvie can provide an opinion on a wide range of reports, including, but not limited to, delayed referral following abnormal ECG, mismanagement of acute infection, and delayed diagnosis of diverticulitis. He has a particular specialist knowledge of diabetes, leg ulcers, and delayed diagnosis of chronic kidney disease and heart failure.
Dr Jarvie is available to provide oral evidence in court when required.

Dr Jarvie is highly organised, and will provide a medical negligence report completed to a high standard within 4 weeks of receiving the instruction.
Dr James Jarvie qualified as a General Practitioner in 2007 and has gained extensive experience in a variety of settings of general practice, including as a salaried GP, a locum, and an out-of-hours GP.
He became a partner at Wallingbrook Health Group in 2016, which held a population of 7,000 patients, and has been the lead GP for clinical governance since 2017. In this role, Dr Jarvie helps ensure that high standards of clinical care are met by leading investigations into patient complaints and potential episodes of substandard care.
Dr Jarvie has pioneered ways of increasing continuity of care and rapid patient access to the surgery, increasing patient safety and satisfaction. Dr Jarvie also has an interest in medical education. Having previously worked as a small group facilitator at the University of Exeter Medical School (2007-2017), he is now the lead GP for education at Wallingbrook, where he regularly supervises medical students. He has been a GP trainer since 2018.
Since 2013, Dr Jarvie has also worked as an appraiser, supporting GPs across the Southwest to meet requirements for revalidation.
