Mr Refaie has undertaken Bond Solon on Excellence in Report Writing and is instructed by both Claimants and Defendants on personal injury and clinical negligence cases.

Mr Refaie is able to opine on all aspects of trauma, foot and ankle surgery, and is highly ranked in providing reports on a wide range of traumatic injuries.

During his time as a medico legal expert, Mr Refaie has provided opinion on over 100 cases (approx 5pcm). He has a special interest in sports injuries of the foot, bunion surgery, ankle arthroscopy and ankle arthritis.

Clinical Experience

Mr Refaie is a UK-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist expertise in foot and ankle surgery. He completed his undergraduate medical education, postgraduate orthopaedic training, and PhD in the UK, before undertaking advanced fellowship training at internationally recognised centres of excellence in Glasgow and Sydney.

These opportunities were made possible through prestigious awards and fellowships from The British Orthopaedic Association, The British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, and The Royal College of Surgeons.

Currently based in the North East of England, Mr Refaie provides expert care at The James Cook University Hospital, Friarage Hospital, and Woodlands Hospital. He is committed to delivering high-quality, personalised treatment and is a strong advocate for shared decision-making to ensure optimal outcomes for his patients.

Mr Refaie plays an active role in medical education. He is a surgical trainer within the NHS and contributes to the development of future surgeons through teaching on several training courses, including the local orthopaedic master’s programme.

Mr Refaie also serves as the Audit and Governance Lead for Orthopaedics at South Tees NHS Foundation Trust, where he helps to maintain and improve the quality and safety of orthopaedic services.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and continues to be recognised for his contributions to the field through multiple national awards and honours.
