Medico-Legal Experience

Dr Adnan Al-Araji is an experienced Consultant Neurologist who has been an expert witness since 2013. During this time, he has completed over 1,500 reports covering clinical negligence. He has completed Bond Solon training and demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of his duty to the court.

Dr Al-Araji is contracted with the NHS, amassing extensive experience across various hospital settings; this additional knowledge is evident in his medico-legal reports. He has a thorough, clear, and analytical approach to his report writing. Historically, he has accepted clinical negligence cases; at present, he is concentrating on personal injury-related cases, generating over 200 reports per year.

He is an international expert on neurological complications of Behcet’s disease (Neuro-Behcet’s disease). Dr Al-Araji has completed reports covering the full breadth of neurology, including, but not limited to, whiplash injury, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), cognitive disorder, and Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Clinical Experience

Dr Al-Araji graduated in 1977 from the University of Baghdad and completed his postgraduate training in General Medicine and Neurology in Iraq and the UK. His postgraduate neurology training included general neurology, neuroimaging, clinical neurophysiology, neurosurgery, rehabilitation medicine, intensive care, neuro-ophthalmology, neuro-psychiatry, and research methodology.

In his current post as a Consultant Neurologist at St John & St Elizabeth Hospital in London, he undertakes regular neurology clinics. In his past immediate post as a Consultant Neurologist at the Regional Neuroscience Centre in Stoke on Trent, Dr Al-Araji’s duties included general neurology, specialised out-patients’ clinics, on-call duties for acute neurology, and a minimum of two ward rounds per week for in-patients.

Dr Al-Araji has a special interest in inflammatory and demyelinating neurological conditions. His other duties also included teaching and supervising undergraduates of Keele Medical School during their neurology placement and postgraduate general medicine and neurology trainees.
