Medico-Legal Experience

Dr Elahi is a seasoned Dentist and highly experienced Expert Witness with a special interest in orthodontics and sedation. He has been an Expert Witness for over 5 years and is instructed in personal injury, clinical negligence, and serious/catastrophic injury cases by both Claimants and Defendants.

During this period, Dr Elahi has completed in excess of 100 medico-legal reports, encompassing the full breadth of general dental practice. His experience includes, but is not limited to, cases involving facial aesthetics and facial rejuvenation procedures, oral cancer, nerve injury and infection, periodontal disease, delayed or missed diagnoses, and the assessment of dental trauma and its long-term consequences.

Dr Elahi adopts a thorough, methodical, and evidence-based approach to his medico-legal work. His reports are prepared in accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules and relevant professional guidance, and are informed by his extensive clinical experience across both NHS and private practice settings. This dual perspective enables him to provide objective, balanced, and well-reasoned opinions on issues of breach of duty, causation, condition and prognosis.

He is experienced in reviewing complex dental records and radiographs, and in addressing issues of consent, treatment planning, and standards of care. Dr Elahi understands his overriding duty to the Court and is committed to providing clear, impartial, and independent expert evidence.

Dr Elahi is available to provide oral evidence at Court, Joint Statements, and discussions between experts when required.

Dr Elahi’s appointment availability is approximately 2-3 weeks. His report turnaround time is 4 – 6 weeks.

Clinical Experience

A qualified dentist since 2001, Dr Elahi has amassed impressive additional qualifications throughout his career. These include a postgraduate Diploma from the Faculty of General Dental Practice, a Post Graduate Certificate in Sedation from Guy’s Hospital, a Graduate Diploma in Law from Nottingham Trent University, a Legal Practice Course from BPP, and a Master’s Degree in Law with a focus on Clinical Negligence (2018).

Dr Elahi also holds a Master’s degree in healthcare leadership and is currently completing a Master’s in Clear Aligner Therapy. Dr Elahi has worked at various specialist practices in Orthodontics, and is currently working as a dentist with a special interest in this area. He has been utilising clear aligners since 2010.

Dr Elahi currently practices in a mixed NHS/private practice in Sudbury, Suffolk, UK. He demonstrates a commitment to public service through his participation in charity initiatives like Dental Mavericks (Morocco) and Dental Aid (UK). Actively involved in education and training,

Dr Elahi serves as a PLVE supervisor and trainer, providing clinical supervision and training for dentists qualifying abroad. He also contributes to Essex University’s dental hygiene program, offering clinical training, assessment, and practical seminars.
