Medico-Legal Experience

Ms Farooq is an Optometrist who has acted as an Expert Witness for over three years. She has undertaken Bond Solon training and is instructed on Claimant cases relating to personal injury and clinical negligence. Ms Farooq has a balanced ratio of CN and PI work and is happy to opine on condition and prognosis, breach of duty, liability and causation.

    – Signs of injury
    – Disease of the eye
    – Abnormality
    – Problems with general health/tumours/neurological issues/high blood pressure/high cholesterol

    – Near-sightedness (myopia)
    – Farsightedness (hyperopia)
    – Astigmatism
    – Glaucoma
    – Presbyopia (age-related loss of close-up focusing)
  • Double vision (diplopia)
  • Amblyopia (lazy eye)
  • Colour blindness
  • Macular degeneration
  • Cataracts
  • Diabetic retinopathy
  • Dry eye
  • Floaters

Ms Farooq’s appointment availability is 2 weeks and has a report turnaround time of 2-3 weeks.

Clinical Experience

Ms Farooq has over 10 years of experience as an optometrist. As well as working within this demanding field she have also obtained a PGCE from the University of Oxford.

She has worked at an ofsted rated ‘outstanding’ secondary school for a number of years. Both professions gave her the ability to analyse data and research effectively and being a critical thinker has been the key to success in both fields.

Ms Farooq’s careers have allowed her to adapt to constantly changing circumstances and environments.

The art of report writing is something she has advanced at through experience, and she is able to do this efficiently and within a tight time schedule.

A keen eye to detail is imperative in being a good expert witness and she has demonstrated this through closely monitoring potentially sight threatening pathology as an optometrist and moderating A level practical examinations as a teacher.
