Mr Panchmatia is a Consultant Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals, London. He has degrees from Harvard University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar, and Cambridge University. 

Mr Panchmatia is an established expert witness and has a mature medico-legal practice. His practice spans all spinal conditions. He is a specialist in serious/ complex high value injuries. Mr Panchmatia is registered with APIL, AvMA, National Crime Agency (NCA) and the UK Register of Expert Witnesses.

He is Bond Solon trained and has been and expert for over 7 years. During this time, he has averaged 100+ reports per year.

Clinical Experience

Mr Panchmatia studied Medicine at Cambridge University. This included a clinical attachment at Yale University, USA. He furthered his education as a Fulbright Scholar at Harvard
University, USA and was a visiting scholar at the Barrow Neurological Institute. He was subsequently awarded a Trauma & Orthopaedic Spine Fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, USA.

In 2015, he was appointed as Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals, London (GSTT) specialising in spinal surgery. He is also the Clinical Governance Lead for trauma and orthopaedic surgery at GSTT. He treats elective and acute spinal conditions, offering both non-surgical and surgical treatments.

Mr Panchmatia has presented internationally, and is published widely in orthopaedic and neurosurgical journals. These include articles in Neurosurgical Focus and the Spine Journal. Topics covered include conditions that affect the cervical spine, thoracic spine, lumbar spine, and sacrum. He is a member of the British Scoliosis Society and the British Association of Spine Surgeons. He was awarded the Sir Robert Jones Gold Medal and British Orthopaedic Association prize.

He trains registrars and fellows in spinal surgery at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals. He has lectured at Cambridge University. He has presented to large audiences including the British Association of Spine Surgeons and the North American Spine Society.
