Medico-Legal Experience

Ms Cawdry is an experienced Occupational Therapist and medico-legal care specialist with expertise in assessing the functional impact of injury, illness and disability across a wide range of client groups. She has extensive experience preparing independent medico-legal reports for use in civil litigation, insurance claims and related legal proceedings.

She has acquired her expert witness training through the extensive Bond Solon courses. During this time period, Ms Cawdry has opined on over 1,000 reports.

Her medico-legal work includes the assessment of individuals with neurological conditions, including acquired brain injury, stroke and dementia, as well as orthopaedic injuries, chronic medical conditions, and respiratory disorders. Ms Cawdry has experience of giving oral evidence in Court including the provision of concurrent evidence or “Hot-tubbing”.

Ms Cawdry has a balanced ratio of CN and PI work and is happy to opine on condition and prognosis, breach of duty, liability and causation related cases. She completes approximately 100 reports a year, with 60 (pcy) being clinical negligence related.

Ms Cawdry is an APIL, EWI listed Expert and she is on the UK Register of Expert Witnesses.

Clinical Experience

Ms Cawdry is a Occupational Therapist with 26 years of clinical experience, with a strong background in the assessment and management of individuals with complex physical, cognitive, and neurological conditions across a range of healthcare settings. Her long-standing clinical practice has focused on enabling independence, safety, and quality of life for adults with both acute and long-term health conditions.

As an Occupational Therapist working in the NHS, she has worked in rehabilitation settings, Acute Medical/Surgical Wards, Specialist Stroke Units and in intermediate care settings. She has also worked as an Occupational Therapist in the USA and achieved her OTR registration.

She has extensive experience working with individuals with neurological and neurodegenerative conditions, including acquired brain injury, stroke, and dementia, addressing cognitive impairment, executive dysfunction, behavioural changes, and functional decline. Her work includes comprehensive functional assessments, goal-oriented intervention planning, and risk management.

Ms Cawdry has also worked with clients with orthopaedic and musculoskeletal injuries, chronic medical and respiratory conditions, and age-related frailty, supporting individuals to optimise daily functioning through rehabilitation, adaptive strategies, assistive equipment, and environmental modification.
