Ms Marcia Blackstock is an experienced Mental Health Nurse with a strong background in forensic mental health and secure care. She has extensive experience working with complex, high-risk and high-dependency patient groups, offering expert insight into care delivery, risk management and institutional safeguarding.
Her expertise includes detailed analysis of observation practices, care coordination and discharge readiness. Ms Blackstock’s reports are recognised for their clarity, structure and strong grounding in clinical evidence.
She is regularly instructed by both claimants and defendants in personal injury and clinical negligence cases, and can provide expert opinions on causation, condition, prognosis, liability, and breach of duty. Ms Blackstock is a seasoned and highly respected Registered Mental Health Nurse with over 38 years of continuous clinical practice in the UK’s mental health sector. Her career reflects a deep commitment to improving mental health outcomes across diverse populations, with experience spanning acute inpatient care, community psychiatric services, crisis intervention, substance misuse, perinatal mental health, and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
She is currently practising as an Expert Nurse Witness and 111 Mental Health Nurse Clinician, combining her deep clinical insight with legal expertise. Ms Blackstock’s clinical journey began in 1982 as a pupil nurse, progressing through roles that include Staff Nurse, Community Psychiatric Nurse, Ward Manager, and Departmental Manager.
She has worked extensively in both hospital and community settings, managing caseloads involving clients with severe mental illness, learning disabilities, and dual diagnoses. Her leadership roles have involved supervising multidisciplinary teams, coordinating Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) services, and implementing quality improvement initiatives in mental health care delivery.
