Medico-Legal Experience

Ms Sarah Rive began her medicolegal career in 2024 and has completed Bond Solon training in Excellence in Report Writing, Civil Law and Procedure, as well as Report and Function of the Occupational Therapy Expert Witness. She accepts instructions for both claimants and defendants and completes reports covering quantum, care, equipment needs, functional ability, and clinical negligence.

Ms Rive has completed various reports involving orthopaedic injuries following road traffic accidents, adaptations to the home environment following blindness, and chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS).

Ms Rive has an empathetic and professional approach with claimants and quickly builds rapport; this enables Ms Rive to identify the best solution for a claimant’s difficulties in activities of daily living. She is known for her methodical and thorough reporting style, and has completed reports covering the full breadth of occupational therapy.

Ms Rive is a qualified Community Health Worker and has spent the majority of her clinical years working with rapid response, cardiology, palliative care, and neurological issues. This wide range of clinical knowledge lends to her forensic and balanced opinion in medicolegal reporting.

Ms Rive can provide oral evidence in court when required.

Clinical Experience

Ms Rive has over 20 years of experience as a Senior Occupational Therapist and Senior Manager, working in the field of adult physical disability across the NHS, local authority and the independent sector.

As an Occupational Therapist working in the NHS and independent sector, Ms Rive has worked in rehabilitation, acute medical/surgical wards, emergency departments, and intermediate care settings. Whilst working clinically and managerially in intermediate care services, Ms Rive was responsible for assessing the care needs of clients with an acute onset of a condition, who were treated at home by a multi-disciplinary team to avoid hospital admission. Ms Rive would then liaise with care workers and set up care plans to enable carers to support the claimants in remaining within their own home environments.

Ms Rive maintains an up-to-date and ongoing professional development portfolio, regularly attending conferences and training sessions and participating in peer mentorship. Additionally, she undertakes locum occupational therapy work to maintain her clinical skills.
