Paediatrics and TBI

Ben Collins KC is recognised by the legal directories as a Leading Silk in clinical negligence (Band 1) and personal injury (band 2). He has long experience dealing with serious brain injuries in children, including those arising in the context of perinatal clinical errors, and by way of traumatic brain injury - most commonly, but not exclusively, in road traffic accidents. Recent successes include a paediatric TBI case which settled earlier this year for £26 million.

Ben’s practice in personal injury and clinical negligence sits alongside complementary work in professional regulation, employment and public law - the directories recognise him as a leading silk in all those fields. He has over 50 reported cases and has appeared many times in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court, recent examples being Hughes v Rattan [2022] 1 WLR 1680 (CA) (named Outstanding Case of the Year at the Personal Injury Awards 2022), and McCullough v Forth Valley Health Board [2023] 3 WLR 321 (SC). In 2020 he was shortlisted as Barrister of the Year and named Pro Bono Silk of the Year.
