Dr Jonathan Rajan is a Consultant in Pain and Anaesthesia and an experienced Expert Witness. He has completed the Cardiff University Bond Solon training and completes personal injury and clinical negligence reports for both claimants and defendants, and has had involvement in criminal cases.
Dr Rajan started his medicolegal practice in 2019 and has conducted over 100 assessments and reports since then. He has produced reports covering the full breadth of pain medicine and anaesthesia, commenting on CRPS, spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia, and Cauda Equina Syndrome.
He accepts cases involving condition and prognosis, breach of duty, liability and causation, and has a special interest in neuromodulation and amputation.
Dr Rajan utilises his extensive NHS experience and CUBS training to have an evidence-based approach to medico-legal reports, adhering fully to the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) Part 35. He has a reputation for his thoroughness and balanced medical opinions and can provide oral evidence in court when required.

Dr Rajan has a background working in a tertiary referral, specialist pain service, having trained in London and the North West. He is a faculty tutor for pain medicine at Salford Royal, the Manchester University lead for undergraduate pain medicine, and is the regional lead on the faculty of pain medicine advisory group for undergraduate education for the North West.
He is also a member of the British Pain Society Education Committee. Dr Rajan has a special interest in minimally invasive treatments and uses techniques such as radio frequency ablation to help patients manage and reduce their pain. He works closely with neurosurgical, spinal, and orthopaedic colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved.
Dr Rajan has numerous different educational leadership roles within pain medicine and a research interest in pain and metabolic disease.
He conducts acute pain ward rounds and sees both chronic and cancer pain patients. Dr Rajan also took a leading role in the development of a new clinical service aimed at the successful triage and treatment of chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia patients, working with psychologists, managers, and endocrinologists.
