Mr Shamil is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and Facial Plastic Surgeon with specialist expertise in nasal, cosmetic facial plastic surgery and facial reconstructive surgery, including the management facial nerve paralysis. He completed his residency in London, followed by prestigious super-specialist fellowship training in University College London Hospitals (The Royal National ENT Hospital), Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead and Sydney, Australia
He has been awarded numerous prizes and scholarships during his career, including from The Royal College of Surgeons, The European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, The Royal Society of Medicine ENT, Plastic Surgery and Oncology Sections, ENT UK, The British Rhinology Society, The British Association of Paediatric Otolaryngology, and The British Association of Dermatologists.
An active academic surgeon, Mr Shamil has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and national guidelines, and he is the lead author and editor of prestigious textbooks including The Essentials of Scott-Brown’s Otorhinolaryngology, and 100 Cases in Clinical Medicine. His research spans facial palsy, rhinoplasty, and blepharoplasty. He has served as a guest editor for internationaly renowned Facial Plastic Surgery Journal and is committed to advancing evidence-based practice.
Mr Shamil also leads and supports global health initiatives and education. He has worked on international surgical programmes across Africa and the Middle East and founded the UK Global Surgery Scholarship, designed to support training opportunities for surgeons from low-resource regions.
He also enjoys educating doctors and students, having written five textbooks, been invited to given dozens of lectures, and set-up several undergraduate and postgraduate educational courses.
