Hear from Daniella Bature, one of our Expert Enquiries Team members, about her experience and why she loves working at MLAS.
1. What has been your favourite part of the company’s culture, and how has it impacted your experience?
It’s the collaboration. I truly admire how supportive everyone is at MLAS. From my interview, the pre-employment period to onboarding and training as a new starter, I felt consistently supported—first by HR, and then by my new team members and manager. Starting a new role can be daunting and even lonely, but the warm smiles and genuine interest from everyone in how I was settling in made all the difference. I looked forward to coming to work each day.
2. How has working with your team inspired or challenged you over the past year?
I’m fortunate to be part of an amazing team within the Expert Enquiries Team (EET). My manager is a true leader in every sense, and my team leader, is incredibly knowledgeable about the business. They both empower the team to take initiative, lead projects, and contribute ideas to improve our work processes, making us feel truly valued. Every EET member has been supportive, taking the time to answer my questions and guide me through systems and processes. Even when requirements change, our hybrid team collaborates daily, motivating and inspiring me to deliver excellent work and achieve our goals.
The work we do in the EET has multiple layers, and that allows me to continue to learn and grow on a daily basis. It’s all very interesting. At MLAS, we are always innovating our processes and that has challenged me to think critically about existing and new workflows.
3. What technological advancements or changes in the company have excited you the most, and why?
The company’s commitment to being technological and change driven is truly commendable. I’ve been particularly excited about the adoption of Monday.com as our central information and content hub. It has significantly improved our data quality and allowed for real-time collaborative task tracking, moving us away from overreliance on multiple spreadsheets. I joined MLAS at the start of the transition to Apollo and that has proved to be extremely valuable, increasing efficiency at all levels.
4. Can you share a memorable moment from the past year that perfectly captures the company’s spirit?
The outside-of-work events with my team are some of my most memorable experiences. These moments have allowed us to build deeper relationships, which in turn helps us collaborate more seamlessly back at work.
I also recall when the new Monday boards were rolled out. My team leader, asked for each person’s input on what details could be added, specifically asking for a list of suggestions. Seeing those ideas implemented speaks volumes about the work environment we have.
5. What advice would you give to someone new to the company, based on your experience?
Congratulations and welcome! My advice is to dive into understanding your department’s goals, and how your role contributes. Asking my manager this early on provided clarity on the role I played towards hitting those KPIs. Secondly, embrace every learning opportunity and don’t hesitate to ask questions. Make the most of your one-on-ones to seek feedback—it’s invaluable for growth. Reach out for support when you need it.
