Medico Legal Experience

Mr Shoukrey is an experienced Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist who is Obstetric Risk Management Lead Consultant and Minimal Access Gynaecological Surgery Lead Consultant.

He holds the Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS) Expert Witness Certificate, having completed the excellence in report writing, cross examination and civil law courses. He has acted as an expert in civil cases, both defendant and claimant, the family court and the coroner’s court.

In his role as Obstetrics Risk Management Lead Consultant, he has investigated clinical risks and medical malpractice, including root cause analysis of serious untoward incidents and child death reviews. He has provided oral evidence on multiple occasions, including in a coroner’s court and family court.

Mr Shoukrey has extensive experience with cases associated with:

  • Medical malpractice (clin neg) and patient complaints
  • Advanced Minimal access surgery (laparoscopic and hysteroscopic keyhole surgery) including laparoscopic hysterectomy, and hysteroscopic resection of fibroids
  • Endometriosis and pelvic pain, including laparoscopic resection of endometriosis and laparoscopic sterilisation.
  • Antenatal care
  • Management of labour, childbirth (Caesarean section and instrumental deliveries–ventouse and forceps) including child birth injuries and post-partum problems
  • Acute/emergency gynaecology and early pregnancy (ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, ovarian cysts, pelvic abscesses etc)
  • Vaginal surgery and abdominal surgery, including abdominal, vaginal hysterectomy, pelvic floor repair, and sacrospinous fixation
  • Benign gynaecology (heavy menstrual bleeding, fibroids, pelvic pain, abnormal vaginal bleeding)

Mr Shoukrey’s waiting time for appointments is 2 weeks and his report turnaround is 4-6 weeks.

Clinical Experience

Mr Shoukrey is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, a position he has held since 2011. He has been practising obstetrics and gynaecology for over 25 years since his qualification and holds a Master’s Degree in Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopy from the University of Surrey.

In his role as Obstetric Risk Management lead consultant at Dorset County Hospital, Mr. Shoukrey investigates clinical risks and medical malpractice. He is also lead clinician for Minimal Access Gynaecological (keyhole) Surgery at Dorset County Hospital.

Whilst there, he has introduced new surgical procedures including Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and Laparoscopic Resection of Endometriosis. He routinely performs general gynaecological surgical procedures, including abdominal and vaginal surgery. He also manages complex pregnancy, postnatal problems and childbirth, including caesarean sections and instrumental deliveries.

Mr Shoukrey teaches at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, including training doctors in laparoscopic/ hysteroscopic skills and emergency obstetrics including instrumental deliveries and shoulder dystocia. He is also a Royal College examiner.

He has presented scientific research papers at both national and international meetings, and has published articles in scientific journals in the field of minimal access surgery.
